Let Them Drink Water!

In case you missed the news...you should drink water.  In a speech at Watertown High School in Watertown Wisconsin - gee aren't they clever - Michelle Obama announced the latest program to spring forth from the "Let's Move" [toward democratic despotism] initiative called "Drink UP!".  Don't worry Mrs. Obama, we're way ahead of you.  At least that's what I thought until I realized she wasn't suggesting a drunken stupor as a way to cope with her husband's lawless regime.  No, instead she wants us all to drink more water.  Thank God for our Imperial First Lady for imparting this amazing nugget of wisdom to the ignorant, huddled masses.  Why I had no idea that when I'm thirsty it's good to drink water.  I have no idea how I've lived this long without knowing that fact.

Mrs. Obama stated "Drink just one more glass of water a day and you can make a real difference for your health, for your energy, and the way that you feel. And there’s plenty of scientific evidence to back this up."  Actually not really.  But when you're part of the Obama regime, you don't need real science.  You need a good back drop (a govt. school), lots of props (teachers, kids, local officials, smart-looking science types) and a complicit main stream media machine that won't ask the wrong questions.  Questions like, "Mrs. Obama, exactly what business is it of the federal government how much I exercise, or what I eat or drink?".  Wouldn't that be a neat exchange?

So she continued with even more ridiculous statements like the following:

"Plus, water is almost universally available. You can find it anywhere, and it’s free. You can find it in schools, in parks, shopping malls, even in your own kitchen sink.
All over this country, you can turn on the faucet and get clean, safe, healthy water that tastes great. But here’s the thing -- and something we hadn’t thought about -- because water is so basic, because it is so plentiful, sometimes we just forget about it. Amidst all the ads that we watch on television and all the messages that we receive every day about what to eat and drink."

So not only is she not qualified to offer advice on the science of drinking water, we now know, as if we didn't before, that her grasp of the capitalist system is severely lacking.  Did you know water is free?  I don't mean the water you collect in your super special look-how-much-we-care-about-the-planet rain barrels, but the actual water from your tap, from park fountains, from shopping mall faucets and schools.  All these years I've been paying my water bill every lousy month not knowing it was supposed to be free!  I'm preparing a spreadsheet to send to Michelle for reimbursement right now.  Not only that, I've been paying taxes to support local parks and schools and I guess any money spent for water was a mistake.  Just imagine, we can run the schools for decades with no taxes at all based on the refunds due for water which we now know has been paid in error!  Actually that's not true, the government school system is a beast that knows no bounds when it comes to the ability to spend our money.

All kidding aside, she shares the same level of ignorance about economics as her husband.  To Michelle, that water really is free.  She has no concept of the fact that only through the labor of tax-paying citizens, or private patrons in the case of the shopping mall is clean, safe drinking water available.  If it just simply happened on its own, there wouldn't be almost 1 billion people worldwide (according to U.N. statistics) who did not have access to clean water.  I suppose you could just excuse her statements as simple misspeaks, but if you know these people, you know they really believe this nonsense and are not grounded in reality.  They are part of the elite ruling class and must not be questioned.  Of course we know this is not only ignorance.  It is simply the Statist philosophy.  In particular how Statists depend on control and influence over the population in all facets of life from birth to death.  This is how the Statist gains generational control over once free people.  Sometimes it's seemingly innocuous things with cute titles like "Drink Up!".  In other instances it's taking over nearly 1/5 of the U.S. economy and forcing citizens to engage in contracts completely outside the bounds of a Constitutional Republic like Obamacare demands.

The question we must ask is when is enough, enough?  At what point will Americans turn away from this kind of nanny-state nonsense, spending our grandchildren into oblivion while the political elites fly around on our dime telling us how much to exercise, what to eat and what to drink?  Before long, they'll try to tell us what medical insurance we can have, what doctors we can see and who lives or dies.  Let's hope we take action before that happens.
